CBM per Pallet Calculator
Work out the billable CBM of loaded pallets from footprint and stack height, then see how many pallets fit in standard containers.
LCL freight bills the full cubic envelope of the pallet — base and overhang included. Measure to the highest point of the load.
Pallets per container (floor positions)
| Container | EUR pallets | US pallets |
|---|---|---|
| 20ft Standard | 10 | 9 |
| 40ft Standard | 24 | 20 |
| 40ft High Cube | 24 | 20 |
Floor positions only — double-stacking depends on cargo strength and loaded height.
How do I calculate the CBM of a pallet?
Multiply pallet length × width × total loaded height (including the pallet base, usually 14–15 cm). A EUR pallet loaded to 1.5 m is 1.2 × 0.8 × 1.5 = 1.44 CBM.
How many pallets fit in a 20ft container?
Typically 10 EUR pallets or 9–10 US standard pallets on the floor. Double-stacking is possible only if the cargo and height allow it.
How many pallets fit in a 40ft container?
Typically 23–24 EUR pallets or 20–21 US standard pallets floor-loaded, the same for 40HC — the extra height helps taller (not more) pallets.
Is LCL freight charged on pallet CBM?
Yes — LCL is charged per CBM (or per 1,000 kg, whichever is greater), and the pallet's full cubic envelope counts, including the pallet base and any overhang.
